Reading an earnings report
Public companies file quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) reports on SEC EDGAR. Compare revenue, profit and guidance with prior periods and with what the company said previously, and read the risk-factor section.
Understanding market volatility
Volatility measures how much prices move. News, earnings and economic releases can raise it. Higher volatility means larger possible gains and losses, so position size matters.
Economic indicators
Inflation, employment and interest-rate decisions influence markets. Official releases come from agencies such as the BLS and the Federal Reserve.
Risk management basics
Decide in advance how much you can afford to lose, diversify, avoid borrowing you cannot repay, and treat any tool or news source as input, not instruction.
